I like the far left option, but the dust will show quickly against the dark wood.

Of the three lighter colours (bottom row) I like the wood/neutral tones. As beautiful as gray is...it is getting to be "over used". People who have changed over to a brown neutral (like the left or right sample) have been extremely happy. The mid-tone browns are very desirable as well as very "livable". They are easy to keep, easy to use inside the design package and will easily make it through 20 years worth of "fads".

I worry about bamboo. It is a finicky product that needs PERFECT conditions to "do well" in. Too much or too little humidity = problems. Bamboo also needs to be in the "high end" of production/cost to get a product that has all the benefits they advertise (super hard, eco-friendly, etc). The low to mid-range bamboo has multiple issues with function as well as air quality issues.

Yeah I'm worried that everything will be to grey with grey floors ideally i would scrap all the choices and do a very lighy floor like a natural hickory or light bamboo to keep the room brighy but apparently people ive talked to dont care for light floors. I'm also worried since it's a small space that a very dark floor will darken the room. the picture posted with the color variations would go with the kitchen (still a work in progres) tile I used

I agree with the lighter wood option.

Many of the interior design blogs that come into my email each day have natural or mid tone color floors. The Parade Homes in my area featured lighter floors than in the past few years. Natural and mid tone are more versatile and adaptable to different styles. I am not sure who the people are that you are talking to, but unless they live with you, there opinion is just their opinion. No designer of flooring specialist should be trying to talk you into something you don't want - especially if they are stressing what is trending. Flooring is expensive and not something easily changed out so it needs to be more timeless than trendy.

I would go with the top mahogany. it is so in and I would paint the mantle white maybe grey or light sage walls

If you like "light" then go light. Hickory is a very popular choice. So many people are moving away from dark and falling back to light/natural colours. Only EXTREMELY conservative areas are still playing with "dark" flooring. Europe moved away from dark/espresso almost a decade ago. They've already passed through "taupe" and have moved past "gray" and are now working with white/very light wood floors.

White floors (very light natural woods) have been showing in Europe for 2-3 years now. That means "trendy" parts of N. America have already seen 1-2 years of "white" flooring being installed. The rest of N. America is JUST STARTING to get into "white".

Extremely conservative areas of N. America may never grasp "white"...they would move towards the "natural light" wood look that is the conservative version of "white" floors...the change is coming. Dark is not something that will stick around forever.

If you want light/hickory then GO FOR IT. Hickory is VERY HOT right now.

Cancork I did natural hickory floors all over my house about 8 years ago and your comment has me feeling super hip and trendy. I still love them and love the wow factor whenever someone comes to visit. Even my mother still comments on how beautiful the floors are almost every time she comes over.

I vote bottom left for style longevity.

BTW....your tall ceilings and windows are fabulous! It would be awesome to accentuate the feature with floor to top window treatments like this. What a statement!

I vote bottom right or another medium tone brown. Here's an article I think is helpful, indicates that your most timeless option will be a medium brown (or even a light tone wood).
