Hardwood is the most popular choice right now. I would never go with a dark floor, I had one once and they are a maintenance nightmare. They show every piece of dirt, dust, lint, etc. Go light! You won't regret it!

So I loved my dark floors but then you will need to lighten up wall colors and I would put the wood everywhere .

If you want the hardwood, do it everywhere. It looks really weird to have hardwood in the kitchen and then CARPET in a living space. Tile = sure. Hardwood = weird.

Keeping the tile and removing the CARPET (the reverse of your thinking) is common and would look quite good. But the other way around just looks odd.

If you want to keep your wall colour, the floor you have chosen is far, far too dark. If you are planning a complete paint and LIGHTING redo....go for it. But you will need lighting...and lots of it....like triple the amount you have right now to get this to look nicer than a 'black hole'.

You are obviously drawn to this particular colour and tone (there are multiple things in the pic in this colour/depth of tone). You'll need to lighten it up to get a nice comfortable home that isn't extremely dark. The wall colour is almost a dead ringer for colour/tone of your floor. You have excellent sense of undertone. Something has to lighten up...either the floor or the walls.
