Thank you, I was thinking the Charcoal would be better for that reason too. Do you think Charcoal will look good with all the browns I have in my living room, or would they clash!?

The photo looks more dark brown than charcoal. Are you going to paint your wooden stair rail? What colors do you like better? I'm much more of a gray/white girl than a brown girl so I lean toward those colors. I do love gray and tans together and have it in my house as well. Here is a photo of my furniture to give you an idea:

If you want an honest opinion, the big marshmallow couch is not my favorite style sofa. There are comfortable sofas with a little more style. Can you keep looking or do you have your heart set on this style? No matching sets and no leather recliner!
A more streamlined sofa and two armchairs would work.

No-not planning on painting the wooden stairwell. The stairwell is brown with a tone of burgundy in it.

I also thought the couch almost looked more brown than charcoal that's why I think it could maybe work!?

I guess I wouldn't make that decision until I had found the chairs I wanted to use with the sofa. No sense having regrets later.

Also, I think there are other recliner sofas out there from Italsofa that don't have the overstuffed appearance.

The charcoal works better with your existing sofas and fan. Consider an area rug to tie your colors together.

I have to admit that I don't care for the style you have selected either. They seem already old and out of date. They look like the sofas I see for sale on Craig's list. I'd try to find something more modern; not necessarily contemporary. Don't mean to be unkind but I think, since you don't have it already, you'd be happier in the long run with something else.
