Hardwood floors beyond repair?

last modified: 10 years ago

Hello,

I just closed on a house and was hoping that the hardwood would be nice under the carpet. I pulled it back and found that the floors were worse than I had ever imagined. There is a lot of paint on the floors, though I expect that can be sanded out. My main concern is that the previous renters did not do an adequate job in cleaning up pet mess and urine soaked through and damaged the floor. I do not have experience with refinishing floors, so I do not know if the floors are salvageable. The house was built in 1930 and I believe the floors are original. I will try to attach photos. I appreciate any input that anyone has to offer.

Thank you!
