I think if they do two or three lines and do them well, will sell themselves, if they are in the right market area and have the right advertising, contacts, showroom or workshop location. Being handmade, the variety may come in fabric choices, stain, custom sizing, and other such things. That being said, many artisans like a challenge and will further customize to meet the needs of their clientele without needing to make major changes to most of their work.

I believe one of the biggest things is to be able to change with the times, keep up. For example right now, everyone is in love with bad wood. sometimes it seems like the worse shape it is in the more popular it is. On the whole, i think this style will be out of the main stream within a few years. So an artist rolling in the dough from making these items, needs to keep up or they suddenly be rolling in a sea of red tape.

There can certainly be nuance and individuality to each product when it's hand made. However, there is plenty of variability among beautiful objects mass-produced for a similar function!!

Be careful, this man said he wanted to quote me. Insisted on full name, so i could not lie? Refused to provide information on self. id page just says home owner. got rather uppity and taunting about it all.

My name says it all I am doing a project for university. I asked you if you minded being quoted because I thought your ideas were interesting and insightful. I thought they were relevant to my study and asked you for your persimsion to quote your idea. You declined, and I accepted that. I didnt make a fuss, I wasnt rude.

I personally would be flattered if someone thought that my ideas were interesting and asked if they could quote me. However I know we arent all the same.

I have worked hard for a long time on this project that has taken thousands of hours. Lots of kind people have helped me to enrich the study and deepen my understanding. As anyone knows who has done a university large scale study it is a huge task that requires a lot of time and effort.

i think I mentioned, but I am doing an academic thesis for university, that I may put into action depending on the results.

The
thesis is about helping poor, disadvantaged and disabled people living
in rural areas of Chile to improve their lives and those of their
families by selling their artisan works internationally. So one of the
things I need to understand is if people would buy, what they would pay,
what do they expect etc. As an academic study I cannot put anything in
the analysis with having traceable evidence. Since people could just
make things up and pretend it was a real person. Unfortunately, I cannot
cite usernames in an academic study.

I have over 250 sources so
since you are uncomfortable it is better to leave your ideas out and use
others that feel comfortable with the process.

School project, why not just use Havingfun's username?

Since havingfun does not want to be cited or paraphrased I wont use it at all. I dont want to cause needless stress for people.

Why do I need to ask for it? I dont make the rules, I am just following the university rules.

I have done absolutely nothing for you treat me in this way. If you have no interest in helping me that is ok. Thankfully there are lots of kind people who have contributed and been a fantastic help without resorting to ludicrous claims or accusations.

If the biggest problem in your life is being asked to be quoted in an academic paper then frankly you must e a very happy and contented person and I am very envious.

Just as I am lucky that my biggest worry is somebody disrupting my school work. We are both very lucky.

Wait a minute having fun, I never pushed you for personal details. I asked you politely. You decliend and I accepted and I did not take it further. I did not use your ideas in anyway.

I get the impression that you are now disappointed not to be included in the work. I gave you the option and you decided you didnt want to be in it. Im not criticising you for not wanting to share your name discretely in a private message. That is fine. We are all entitled to our privacy. I agree 100%.

But I asked for you name and asked your permission. I cannot see how I could be more polite and considerate. So I fail to see your issue.

Im pretty much OK 90-95% , but I have a lot of spell checking and re organising to do. Most of the content is there. I am just adding finishing touches to most sections. even doing spell check on such a big document is a lot of work. Especially when you make typos at the rate I do :-)
