I love the marble tiles you are considering, particularly the very simple last one. I also think a pale gray solid ceramic or glass tile (picking up the gray of the counters) would be beautiful. I would not add a bright color to your lovely, subtle kitchen through the backsplash. You can add a bright color with accents, but suddenly going bright for the backsplash when the rest of the kitchen is so light and elegant would be, IMO, too jarring and I think you would be likely to tire of it quickly. There are many examples on Houzz of kitchens that are done entirely in whites, off whites, and pale grays, and they are some of my favorites.

You can't go wrong with either of the ones you selected. Personally I would go for the larger lighter one because I think it is a better contrast with your countertops (nice pick btw)

I like your choices. You could incorporate this idea since it looks like you might have some areas that would be hard to end--no definitive place to stop the backsplash without tiling the whole wall.

Wow! Thanks to all for your great ideas! Teeny I live the tiles on the Cat mountain residence you included. Lelly you also bring up a great point! My other dilemma is whether or not I use backsplash all the way up the server or is it okay to just go up to light switch? There will be a bar sink and faucet there. Wine fridge as well. Do I use herringbone or subway style/ elongated backsplash? Tans to all!
