Finally got the pic to upload. We are buying this townhouse. The furniture is not mine.

It goes all the way up to the cathedral ceiling.

I think the white mantle might be a little to much of a contrast, beige, black or natural floating would probably be better options. I believe in 3 things:

1. live with it a while, before you go changing it into something it never was

2. if you find in the end, you still think it was horrendous make a change then. but remember if it is not what was originally placed there, you greatly increase the chances that you or someone else will later hate it. By then you will have spent a lot of money on this.

3. If you find something so awful that costs this much, maybe you should just move on, someone is going to love it, just the way it is.

When I moved in my house, i did not think i could wait the 6 month minimum I place on these things. my fireplace brick wall is over 11 foot long, to the ceiling. 4 years later, the real problems are, the too small kitchen and bath and the fact i lost half the house with my inability to go downstairs now.
