Go with a roman shade. It would be difficult to hang a curtain rod since the windows are so close to the fireplace unless you get one that curves around. I think they're called hotel rods. This looks like it's going to be a beautiful space.

I would go with the designer line from Conrads. They are most cost effective and will be perfect in these windows. I use them a lot on jobs and clients love them.

That why conrads are perfect. They are sheer but textural. You want something to soften the hard outlines of the windows and all but not block light. I'm sure they sell in Canada. Your home looks great! I would leave the top windows open and do a top down/bottom up woven shade.

I love your house and your windows are great, I think if I were you ,I would finish the decor with the window solution. After you put your furniture and accessories, the space will dictate what is needed. Take pictures then, and if you still can't tell , then we will be able to help . I would recommend either Cellular or Silhouette Shades with a top down bottom up option. This will allow you to control the light and privacy in the room.

Since you live in Canada, whatever you go with you may want to make sure they are lined to help keep your house warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

No drapes. The drywall area is nonexistent to the left and right of your trim-so you would only be covering natural light.

With that view, leave with no sheers, blinds or curtains!!!

I have windows like yours...huge, with transoms and overlooking a great view. I am also in Canada. I use top down, bottom up, insulated celluller shades...they are cordless so there are no ugly cords hanging down on your millwork. They are in the up position most of the time when I am home but with all that glass, are very useful for controlling heat from the sun and cold that seeps through. Have a look at Home Depot or Lowes...they are several brands.

Bless your builder, he/she was wise to use rectangular windows which simplifies your window treatment life greatly!

I would hang aysemetrical drapery pannels on the outer edge of the windows with a rod and 2 finials at each window

All the solutions seem to work. I am in favor of installing a shade (any style), to soften the look room while providing insulation since the home is in Canada.

My first thought was roman shades - until I checked out the idea of Conrad shades . I have to agree they could be a great choice. And the natural color similar to the ceiling and mantle could pull everything together perfectly and make it look finished.
