gutting a main floor

I would like to know if i could gut and restore an open concept for my main floor. Have lived in my house now for 30 years and trying to decide whether to stay another 20 thank you Diane

The best way to go about this decision is to higher a design/build firm that SPECIALIZES in "Age-In-Place" renovations. Have them come in and assess your home. They can offer several options to help you stay in your home. You would then decide if the $$$$ is worth it or not.

A main floor remodel can be 6-9 months worth of work...or more. Some people simply move out and let them work unhindered. Other people live in place and have the crews take an hour each day to "put things away" so that you can "live" while the work is being done. This is the "long way around" but it means you don't move out.

Other people would rather sublet a space, move out and have things finished months faster. The decision about the remodel itself will have to be made using a design/build firm who specializes in "Age-In-Place" renovations.
