Please help me identify this anemone

last modified: 10 years ago

I am pretty sure that it is an anemone, but whether it is blanda or coronaria or another (certainly not Japanese) is what I don't know. Although it looks like a blanda to me, I have never seen a red one. And, which it is will dictate whether I should dig it up or leave it in ground. Blandas will be okay in ground I have learned.

I do know that I bought these and planted them in about June; yesterday was the first bloom (thanks to our peculiarly warm weather so far this year). I usually keep a tag or label for the things I plant but can't find one for this. I do recall that I bought a few not-hardy items to enjoy for the summer, but actually never got a bloom from any of them and frankly don't recall where any of them were planted. If this is one of the not-hardy things, I meant to just let it go when winter came, but it is so cute I don't want to now!
