I fell in love with my home the moment I saw it- rammed earth and mud brick with carved posts and salvaged architectural features. However, there are elements I scratch my head over and the stairs are one. A mix of jarrah posts and floating pine treads, it could have been something far more...industrial? Eye catching? Statement making? Anyhoo, no money to spare at this point to rip out and start again, which brings me to my question- should I leave alone or lighten up with paint? Perhaps white posts and ditto the thick angled slab of pine but leave the rail as is? I am hesitant of covering up so much wood and altering the rustic character of the home but something needs to be done!
