tile hurts too much now.

I have had all of the above. Right now we have hardwood in our kitchen and I really like it. Tile is too cold and hard on my feet/legs/back, laminate is warmer, but not any better on my feet/legs/back, never had a vinyl that didn't tear, stain or look otherwise yucky after a couple years. I do fear the flooding of the kitchen disaster ruining the floors, but friends who have lived that say the wood shrinks back down when it dries out.

I've had marmoleum in my kitchen the past few years and am very happy with it.

Tile I believe is the better way to go for looks and durability. Easy to clean and a variety of layouts you can do.

Hardwood. I feel like its a warmer material to stand on and not as slick as tile if you have a spill. Also, with so many kitchens opening into dining rooms/living rooms, I feel like having one uninterrupted floor material through out really brings the space together.
