Entrance way mayhem!

Hey! Just purchased a house with a very large entrance way. Basically you walk in through the front door, and there is a small space for about 3 feet, then it opens up to a 8 x 10ft space where there is a light fixture, on one side the living room, the other the washroom, and the front has the kitchen... what do I do with this excess space???
