I think it is a great alternative to granite or quartz, really depends on what you want to know?

I am kind of leaning that way too - either that or concrete. I would love a farmhouse sink with the wood counter so it would be set underneath the edge. Sealing them is the critical part. Have done lots of reading of various threads and Waterlox is mentioned frequently. Perhaps check it out and do some research. It's not inexpensive, but that should be expected for good quality.
