Dining Room Wall Dilemma

Anyone have any ideas what I can do with this wall in my dining area?

A large mirror hung vertically. Or create a gallery wall. Consider a rug as well, probably 8x10. Very pretty house.

Adding a paint color to that wall could enhance your room. A color that pops that is inviting. Maybe a nice yellow or soft green.

Not sure if you like plants but a gallery of live plant wall, along with a large piece of art work would bring texture and color to
The room. It a beautiful home just needs a little organic life.

I love that idea, Marie! Any photo examples? We just bought it and got rid of the yellow walls and it is now Balboa Mist (looks more gray/blue in my photos) and right across from this wall is our accent wall in Metropolis. Just posted a picture for the color.

    Hi Carolyn

Attached are a few photo, my advice is tape the measurements of your wall onto your floor and create your gallery with your plant wall onto the space before nailing anything to the wall
This way you can see best way to layout your artwork and live wall since your wall is and angle wall. As you can see from the pictures adding color from the artwork and the green from the organic plants brings the room to life
    Enjoy your new home.

Which rug do you think would look ok. Or are they all too busy?

Speaking as an artist, I would go with just one good sized print. This is something from my offerings that would go well in that space. http://david-bridburg.pixels.com/featured/layered-10-turner-david-bridburg.html

    Hi Carolyn
From what I can see you home has and arts and craft feel. If I am correct I am correct I would do a tone on tone pattern in a light color
Since you have allot of brown
From the furniture what colors are on the tiles on the fireplace. I would pick a color to pop the room from one of the colors in the tiles then
add secondary color from the tiles as and accent color. By adding pillows and throw. Please don't forget to style your coffee table to bring life into the room.

Thank you! I think I will look again and take my time. I'm not fussy on them.
Unfortunately, at this stage of my life with 1 and 3 year old boys, styling the coffee table is not in the cards. It is always just colouring books, puzzles and toys :) I do need to purchase some storage for under it though to keep things organized.

It might be of use to see some projects of ours. Take note of the artwork and mirror.

Yep, I would choose a lighter, brighter rug.

Don't repaint and don't install wallpaper. There's no place to stop the wallpaper and your walls look great.

Don't see many gallery walls that are successful because it takes more time than most are willing to spend in terms of replacing frames, resizing pictures etc. Using picture ledges so art and pics can be changed out at will seems like a better idea to me.

I think the art on the wall might be the best idea if you find something you like and it's at a price you're willing to spend.

Adding a shallow console below the painting would be great.

I like this rug but I don't think my curtains go with it anymore.

As for the wall, I still think either one large or several pieces of art would work better than a rug.

I never bought a rug to replace my need to do the wall :) I just felt the space needed a rug, I will of course do the wall.

I think the curtains could still work. I would prefer one large piece of colorful art would work well. Often gallery walls end up looking cluttered and a mirror will not give you the color you need.

Lots of great opinions regarding this dining wall.
And I agree the rug still works with
The drapery in the dining room.
What seems to me is you are getting so many opinions wondering if we are confusing you more then helping. Though no one opinion
Is better then another. What's really important is what really works best for you and how you live
In your home do you. Do you want a relax casual feel or more of formal
Feel. So I really would like to hear
How you use your dining room.

Carolyn, you've selected a very nice neutral color range, and I think a pop of large artwork to blend it all in will look great there. Check out my work for ideas here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ShoaGallery

Many sizes and colors available for each artwork. Some ideas here:

    Enjoy decorating! :)

You're right, Marie. We are super casual. I am more in to scenic photos that my husband takes of places we have explored and been to as a family, than a piece of art. I find that going in to a store and seeing a bunch of art work, not many of them make me feel like I want to see them every day in my home. I like the personal touches of our own photos on the wall. Don't get me wrong, I like art of a place we have traveled to or recognize and feel good about, but on a smaller wall. I like mirrors because, with two small kids and toys around, the more illusion of more space than we may have is nice :)
