I think where you get cold winters this would not be my choice. I have a laminate that looks like slate in my 50’s ranch and i love it we live in SE B.C. where we get colder winters and hot summers and it is nice all the time

That's 3 different floors in a single home. I'm not a fan of tiles. Then again, I'm in Canada where 8 months of COLD FLOORS is not something that makes you "like" tiles.

@ Patricia...You're in BC? I had no idea (of course I could have clicked on your pro profile)! I Just assume everyone here is from the USA! Good to know that you are local(ish) to me! I'm in Richmond BC...so we do LOTS of business out your way! Lots of people in the mountains are looking for warm floors like cork.

This is what I ended up doing- porcelain plank throughout with nice area rug in living area and one in the breakfast nook. Master bedroom haste same tile as does the utility room but the master also has a nice thick area rug. The guest bedrooms are carpeted in a complimentary colored Berber and the master bath and hall bath have a more marble looking porcelain plank.
