Do LG washers calibrate the first cycle?

My new washer was delivered today. After the install, it said to get 6 pounds of clothing and run a rinse/spin cycle. I guesstimated the weight of clothing and tossed it in and started the cycle. When it got to "spin" with 10 mins left, it stayed at 10 mins, tumbled around with barely a spin, then reversed, and continued to do this for about 10 mins, while the timer remained at 10 mins the entire time. During that 10 mins, it did get up to a decent speed once. It is finally down to 8 mins now and has done a bit more spinning.

Is this some sort of calibration cycle and expected? or is this machine not working?

Well that isn't what I wanted to hear...LOL. It finally finished and I am trying a full cycle now.

The full cycle went well. I put a load in the pedestal at the same time and they ended up having the exact same time left on each cycle (less than a minute difference), and the main washer ended less than a minute before the pedestal. So it seems to have behaved this time.

I've got another load in the main washer and another load in the pedestal right now so I'll see how this one turns out. Crossing my fingers it was nothing.

This was a standard style load that I've done a zillion times in my Electrolux. It was kids stuff, leggings, t-shirts, pajamas and socks. It wasn't a huge load as I thought 6 pounds meant not to pack the drum full, but it was a load size that I will normally need to do. It was a load that would be way too big for the pedestal, but had room in the main washer. When they were done, they were all at the bottom of the tub and not stuck to any side (loose at the bottom). I didn't check to see how wet they were as I was loading a few more items so I could run a full cycle. Which was the successful cycle; so same load of stuff just with some additional items added.

I ran another large cycle after and it went off without a hitch as well. And I've done 3 in the pedestal already too. Laundry is fun with new machines! :)

I will need to try another smaller load and hope that I am NOT able to reproduce the issue. ;) I did have a similar problem in my Maytag that I had before the Lux but it happened when I had one heavy rug that was unbalancing things so I thought it fair that it was having trouble with it.

They do have to calibrate. I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts doing it with every load. Some loads are harder to balance as you know since you have already had a FL before but since it is/was new and first cycle I would say calibration. Check in your installation booklet. It may mention it there.
