I don't know how to decorate around our tv. I know its small flatscreen but still don't know where to start. The stand is a modified one from our boxy tv. I think it could stand a new tv table but not sure if it should be open kind or cabinet. and would large fabric panels be a good start on that big wall? sigh

how about art? do not think you need to be a wizard at art, or spend tons of money. Do not get prints, go etsy and/or Saatchiart.com and get originals, they start at under $100. and don't worry, it always goes with the decor! Ikea has great reasonable tv stands with or without storage.

You definitely want a TV stand that's longer than your TV, so I'd start with that -- open or closed is fine, depending on whether you have stuff you need to stow or show off.
