Lost in translation

So I have a REALLY hard time visualizing things in my head and making them come to life.. in my mind, it works, but its always a crapshoot when I actually make the thought come to fruition.

So here I am, I just added this nice distressed secondhand couch to my living space. I'm not sure that I like it. My living area started off simple and clean. Albeit a bit too clean. I slowly started to add new furniture and realized that everything was cold ... too many greys/silvers. So I started adding color to brings things to life..

Anyway.. my dilemma, the couch.. we need the sitting space.. and not chairs. At first I was going to get a smaller matching couch to complete the living area.. but then I found a steal on this leather couch I couldn't pass on.. but does it work?

If so, what can I do to tie the two together? My sister says to get a light grey throw on the back to soften it up and tie the two together. I also want to add some throw pillows and would love some advice on those as well. Color wise that is..

Colorblind guy in distress here. Any advice is appreciated, good or bad, even if its not related to the couch dilemma. ;)

Looks great so far! First consider adding an area rug which has both colors in it. Then add either throw pillow or a throw or both to blend all your seating and accent color (yellow). Brown and gray are neutrals, and go together very well!

I really love the way this looks. Going with your ? about adding something .... maybe a few cushions on the leather couch; cushions that incorporate the colour of the shelving below the t.v. (love that colour too!)

At least the sofas appear to have similar styling. Consider anchoring them on a rug large enough to slip under the front 1/3 of them and extend past the outsides by a foot or more. Maybe sis will help you find the right one. These look masculine enough.

This looks really put together. Nice job! Definitely needs a large accent rug. Otherwise I think it's pretty spot on ;)

I love it!! Pull the two sofas together by adding pillows.and a throw. Add one or two Mongolian pillow to stand out in white... ...kinda pricy but would look great

Use the same or similar pillows on both sofas...almost any colour would work because everything is neutral now,,,maybe include yellow to go with media unit...

VERY nice space to enjoy! Great job! My only suggestion is to carry over the pillow color and pattern to both couches....by using the same ones on either end of one couch, the other probably seems like it does not fit. Bring some over to the darker couch and they will both feel welcome in the space together. Easy enough to try and see if that makes sense.

Great space! I'd add a single yellow pillow to the brown sofa and be done. I don't really think you need a rug. I kinda like the look without one.

I loved the area rug suggested by Barbara. It is perfect, modern and will bring the entire space together. You will have the opportunity to play with so many colors. I also think you need a new table lamp. How about one that can also incorporates more color in the space. Here is a example as well as some pillows. Hope that helps.
