I live on a corner lot and my property backs up to a private road. Currently there is an old chain link fence and landscaping, which consists of tall white plains and some older large deciduous trees. I have some landscaping at the ground level but the level of shade makes it difficult for shrubs and privacy hedges to thrive. I'm planning to sell in about 7 years. I'm wondering if it's worth it to replace the chainlink with a privacy fence. A new fence would cost at least $5000. I live outside of NYC in the suburbs so home prices are expensive here.
