My living room

We are decorating our new house. Our living room is contemporary. My question is should table lamps be the same or different styles? If different, then should they have any similarities, like same colour or shape of lamp shade,or made of the same material like crystal?

Table lamp selection can come after furniture is selected and in place..the choices should co-ordinate somewhat in style but can vary in type..floor lamps...hanging lamps...table lamps...whatever is needed for function ...specific advice cannot be offered without seeing the style of the room and the furniture in place
