Replacing entry closet doors......

In our entry way, we have a double doored closet, with 24" wide, Colonial 800 series doors (see pic below). These open like french doors, not sliding. In order to expand the space, I'm thinking or replacing them with the same size door, but mirrored 10 lite doors. Not that I slavishly follow trends, but are mirrored French doors a decorating trend that has seen it's day or am I still okay to use it?

The reason I ask is that I have just been quoted, by a reputable biggish retailer, a truly obscene price of $374 CAD for each mirrored 24" door in MDF, made in Ontario 50 kms from where we live. The doors are not custom and the price didn't include the installation.

So am I so far out of touch and style that I'm paying the price? Just wondering.....
