To answer your question, there are 4 drawers on each side plus the center drawer, so 9 drawers on each side of the desk for a total of 18 drawers. Each drawer is slightly different in size, with the three drawers across the top being equally deep, although the center drawer is wider. The next 2 drawers down are approximately the same size, which is slightly deeper than the top three. The bottom drawers are deeper yet than the middle drawers. I hope this helps! No, none of the drawers are file hanging drawers because they are all curved due to the oval shape of the desk. It is rectangular-shaped, so that the drawers are rectangular and can thus accommodate rectangular files! On that desk, the bottom two drawers are actually connected and are one deep file drawer. So there are actually 7 drawers on each side, or 14 total drawers.

If you just love the oval-shaped desk, you can also add a [matching file cabinet[(https://www.houzz.com/products/filing-drawers-file-cabinet-banded-inlay-prvw-vr~28344330?lid=19429941) so that you can have hanging folders. It looks like 4 drawers, but it is actually 2 deep file drawers.
