Add the softer pieces of art on the walls (one on each side) adjacent to the headboard wall so that you can enjoy them while in bed. You could add a fluffy down blanket beneath your new spread to give it oomph. After steaming it though.

Nice room! Not sure which Slim Aarons images you prefer, but you can purchase this famous image reproduced on canvas (41"W) for $150, on Amazon. There are also pretty affordable Slim Aarons images for purchase at photos.com. Good luck!

IMO the lamps are too tall and the black shades are too opaque for successfully lighting the room. Not good for general lighting or reading.

Don't have to be these lights. Could still have drum shades, but shorter and linen shades instead.

I agree. the lamps will moving to my entry soon. it's hard to find matching vintage lamps. the aesthetic is antique modern. I love the size and style of the print. I would love an antique rug but I can't find one in my price range. thanks for the tips

use a rug that has a larger pattern and have it go under 3/4 of the bed. in the rug bring in a color that will also be in the art.

I know it's not cool as vintage, but the new lamps at west elm are really good. Also, midcenturyla has some awesome vintage - if you're not in LA, they have a website. Also, I think you should go bigger with the rug - you should be able to get a big Kilim from a rug store at a budget-friendly price, and with a thick rug pad, they are cozy enough. For art, midcenturyla also reps a SF photographer named Jock McDonald whose large scale prints are pretty great.

Rice paper lanterns and photo from IKEA for not very much money.

The lanterns are something that would have been used during the 50s. See below. The photo could be a good space saver until you can afford what you actually want.

I really love the lamps at west elm. we're not on an ikea budget. budget for art is around $500 and rug under $1000. I really love the most popular slim Aaron's print with the ladies by the pool. I would love to pull the yellow from that print into the rug.
