I'd be happy to! I don't think you'll be saying that, though, when you see the too-pink brick I got for my backsplash.

I'm not sure I'd do glass. I think it would look awesome, but it would get scratched, hard to keep clean (dust, fingerprints, etc.). I have friends who have one of those sinks in their NH vacation home. It was in the house when they bought it. The counter is Talavera tile, so the whole thing is Talavera, colorful and beautiful. Only thing I don't care for in theirs is that they used square tiles, to it has grout between each tile, which I don't care for on counters, kitchen or bath. But if you can get sheets of it or do them so they're very close and have very tight joints, that would look great as well.

LOVE that stained concrete. Expensive choice, though, and you have to make sure you keep it sealed.

Btw, if you like that concrete, you can actually make the counter yourself for very cheap. Videos online on how to do it. I was going to make a stained concrete coffee table this year, and the concrete part was easy but I was very unsure about the base, so I ended up recently finding a beautiful wood, huge coffee table on CL I got instead. But I love, love, love stained concrete.

We have a stained concrete floor in our office (DIY a few years ago, used Kemiko), which is next to the powder room. It's very popular here, so might not be too pricey, I don't know. I think wood is my favorite look so far. :)

I love that concrete because it has a leathery look to it.

If I ever get around to replacing the hideous laminate vanity in my MB, I think I won't be able to resist the stained concrete.

No big projects this year. The kitchen and hall bathroom, plus a new roof last summer pretty much completed the big projects for a very long time.

I am waiting for a bid on some electrical work. Our bedroom and ds' bedroom still have orginal wall sconces which sounds good, but it difficult to decorate around as the are placed badly. We'd like to have them removed (I promise I will save them) and replaced with overhead fixtures and then add outlets and hardwired swing arm sconces next to the bed in the master. Seems like a small project but electricians are pricey so we will see what the bid is. And we will have to wait for my gc to fit us in between other projects--likely when he is working in the neighborhood in the fall.

And I am working on a very very small project to spruce up our fireplace.

Everything :( and :) New house is loads of fun and really hard work. I'm working on trying to get my contractor friend to build bookshelves to flank the fireplace next. If "next" counts. My neighbor has decided it's time to get the rain flowing through the yards right and he's putting soil in the connected side yards, and has leftover. Last night, he offered to put it over the exposed tree roots in my front yard. That's half of the dirt battle in my yard. I still have to get 10 yards for the backyard and non-connected side yard. And build flower beds. And paint the exterior. And fix all the holes in the exterior. And insulate the entire underneath of the house....

Decorating? One thing at a time. I still haven't finished the curtains/blinds. Getting there, but done? Nope. I'd love to finish that one!

The kitchen is close to being painted.

Almost everything on my 2016 list was also on the previous two years list as well.

I am doing a refresh of the hallway bath. New flooring to be installed in two weeks. I will be keeping the counter, lights (I think), and though keeping the vanity I am going to have it painted. I may do wallpaper in the vanity niche only. New window treatment and paint for the bathroom.

We are putting an interior French door into our library but this has been like pulling teeth because the man doing it works full time construction so it is slow as molasses.

We are making our living room walk in closet into a mudroom. so the same man who is doing the library is cutting the exterior door into it so who knows when that will be done.

If I manage to get all that done the master bath is next on my list.

I need new window treatments in the whole house except for the kitchen that was done during our 2013 reno.

I'm worn out just thinking about it!

We are closing on this eyesore this afternoon! It's going to be a shop for our excavating business, and remodeling this old gas station will pretty much suck up all my time (and money). :D I'm strangely excited to see it all done .... it's been vacant for years.

Nothing major here, but we are going to replace a concrete patio with a wooden deck. Will mean existing arbor needs to be removed, so thinking of a narrower arbor attaching at each side of the steps. Inside, just some painting, possibly new flooring in 2 bathrooms.

It's time to tackle the to-do list, so starting with replacing the sinking concrete front porch, which of course involves removing the posts. We will have trim applied to the posts to make them a little more interesting.

Then we can paint the exterior, so I will be looking for a paint (I've posted a time or two about that) and we need a new garage door. I'll be asking here about wood-look steel doors soon! Also replace some exterior lighting,

Also need to paint a couple of rooms indoors, replace some lighting fixtures.

DS17 will start working with a tutor at home, so I need to quickly get a room arranged appropriately for that.

Do SOMETHING with the LR. It's our main living space, and there are probably 4 eras and styles of furniture going on. Yeek!

My master bedroom needs a refresh -- new wall color, end tables, better reading lamps. Also, I'd like to make the 45-year-old central vac system functional again.

In the spring we will repaint the trim around the garage doors and front door.....it's showing specks of mold.....ugh! Will also paint front door. It is only a few years old and came prepainted, but our strong morning sun has faded it and it looks like it was painted with flat paint.

Ongoing project is to get basement cleaned out. DH made some progress over the holidays. When it's finally done and organized I will be on here asking for help to refresh it...paint, carpet, lighting.

Need an end table for LR as well as more art/accessories for the main level. I am terrible at accessorizing so can never make any decisions so rooms look too sparse.

Well, I would be very happy if we could start building this year. We'll see. The house goes on the market mid April so we are going through our to do list hot and heavy right now. There are a few projects on the house I wish we had done a long time ago. Oh well.

Every January I make a resolution to finish the previous year's projects before beginning a new one. So I probably won't start a new project until next fall. And that project would be finishing the front room that has served as the "construction staging" area for at least 5 years.

This year's project is to finish the main living space. Last year I reluctantly removed a built-in to get to water damage and termite damage behind it. Naturally, in my house at least, one thing leads to twenty, and I've had to remove all the flooring. I'm putting the room back together and fully intend to solicit opinions when I get stumped/overwhelmed with decorating choices. I know I'll have questions about wall hangings and such. This forum is a great resource, and I'm looking forward to reaching out to you all in the near (I hope) future. :)

New pillows and curtains for the living room, repainting the hall and possibly the LR. Some more organization, additional landscaping, and hopefully a nursery.

The physical renovation/addition of the 1939 house that I bought in February last year will soon wrap up. Then, the decorating begins.

Since this is a downsize and the room dimensions are small-scale, I had to give away most of my furniture. It's going to be a challenge to use what I brought with me and I've already been asking for advice here on the forums.

Everyone is so busy. For DH and me, this year the kitchen will be remodeled. It has been in the planning stage for centuries. Indecision and other projects have caused its delay. Other projects in the cue are 2 bathroom projects and a master bedroom and closet redo.

Our ( small) master bathroom!

The lack of storage has driven me crazy for years. We plan to remove the huge soaker tub ( that's never used & takes up far too much space) and replace with a smaller free standing one so we can have a larger vanity. Also, hopefully expand size of shower.

Plan to tackle this over the next few months... Hooray:)

I didn't get much of last year's list done so it's still on the list. Getting the outside shutters painted, painting the study are the 2 main ones. I also have a couple of small outdoor projects to do myself (plant a couple of shrubs in a small area I'm working on and move some iris). Although it doesn't really 'need' it, a possible re-paint of our guest bath along with new mirrors and possibly new lighting and accessories. We'll see.

Absolutely NOTHING! Nada, zip! We added to the house in 2000 that included a 24x26 den, patio and (carport under roof). Kitchen and office remodel in 2002. Guest bedroom and entry in 2004. Major (knocking down walls) remodel in 2007 included more kitchen work, turned LR into DR, master bath and bedroom remodel, new windows. Porch remodel in 2010. DH's bathroom remodel in 2015. We're DONE! We didn't replace the kitchen cabinets in 2002. They're ok but I'd like new but it's not on a to do list. Everything else is just like we want it...of course refreshing decorations is a on going thing. Due to years of drought here in Texas and then record rainfall in 2015, our house is needing foundation work. It's been rescheduled 3 times due to rain :o Is that considered a "project"? Not a very fun way to spend $5600 :(

chispa I may not be pounding nails but I was out there in the pouring rain, muck and mud today shuffling 4 x 8 foam insulation down to into the foundation! It's a full family hands on build - oh, boy!

I'm planning to finish going through every object in our home and donating or selling everything that no longer brings us joy (following the advice in Marie Kondo's book). I'd also love to finish making window treatments for the house we've been living in for 11 years now that still has naked windows!

As we purge things, we seem to be inspired to make little edits here and there throughout the house that make us happy, such as rearranging furniture and artwork.

I am eager to see all these projects. Should be a fun year ;-)

Determined to reno the kitchen, which means the entire first floor gets new floors, light fixtures, paint, and the FR is completely overhauled. Just waiting on the contractors to give me the signal to place the cab and appliance orders!

Our looming project is selling our old house, which has been off the market but is going back on next month. Fingers crossed. I really don't know what I want to do next to the new house. I hung some pictures in the laundry room last night, and I find that little tweaks at this point are making me quite happy. That said, I still long for a big bookcase (wall-to-wall if possible) in the upstairs library, and we need to figure out what we're doing with our extra bedroom (workout room, craft room, or something that we have yet to think of). When springtime comes, I'm sure I'll get the itch to do some things outdoors. Our front yard is fully landscaped, but we only have one tree in the back, and no landscaping at all (just grass). It's a small but blank canvas, and the possibilities kinda thrill me. Oh yeah, we still plan to have the patio bricked, and are just waiting on the contractor to come back and do it. We've been assured that he has not forgotten us!

Mostly exterior projects this year. We are planning a grilling/cooking outdoor area. It will have a roof but open sides. Trying to decide if we want to pave the floor or what. Need to cut back the flower beds and put down tons of new mulch this winter.

inside we will remodel our MBR small walkin closet. Also need to buy a new range.

Our project this year is going to be to design and finish out the walk-in pantry/utility room which used to be the laundry room. We want to install shelving, a utility sink and other storage so it will look finished and organized. We have a low budget for it, and I honestly don't know where to start.

I'm going to refresh our master BR --- it's getting tired and when the downstairs was almost completely updated in 2013, it was untouched. New window treatments, linens, rugs, lights, and maybe a new chest. Eventually, the MB/walkin and laundry room needs to be redone, the backyard refreshed, and the driveway fixed. Sigh. Our City place also may need some small updates due to wear and tear from being a short term rental -- rugs, a new chair.

However, the bigger projects may slide if we move ahead and pull the trigger on buying a home in Europe. Going on another scouting trip in a few weeks.

Lots.....Finish the new kitchen that we started in 2015 (we're swapping room functions so the current kitchen will become pantry/utility and a former reception room is going to be the new kitchen), decorate the home office from scratch, ditto the snug including reinstating a fireplace as the original is long gone :-( Finally re-turf the lawns and get some chickens. If we can get anything else done (we mainly DIY) it'll be a bonus!

We purchased this house (1850s with Arts & Crafts style extension) in December 2014 and it needed everything doing having been neglected by a succession of previous owners, but having previously restored/extended a Georgian thatched house that was considered uninhabitable, this is a walk in the park!

Built our home in 2014, so really nothing to be done inside. Besides, DH would shoot me if I started changing things.

Outside is a different matter. Last summer we put in a fence in our small backyard so our dog could run. Planning to add some planting beds to add much needed color. This is what the landscape company came up with. Haven't decided about the patio.

Would also like to close in under the deck and stairs. Also looking into installing solar panels on the back of the house. Not decorative, but had to get approval by the Architectural Review Committee of our 55+ development!

We are doing a backyard project. We have a concrete patio at the base of the stairs to our porch. We are building an outdoor kitchen on one end and extending it with a new paver patio that will include a seating wall and a gas fire pit! We already have a wood burning FP on our porch, but thought this would be fun for entertaining and especially for our teens when they have friends over.

This is our yard. The patio would extend to the area under the 4 windows. The built in grill area would be along the end where those little clumps of monkey grass are. Looking forward to it...but not looking forward to the mess our yard will be while it is under construction!

We are redoing the pantry this year and replacing the single bed with a double upholstered bed in the blue bedroom. Also around here is ongoing infrastructure work......we may have to shore up one of the sluice pipes from our pond to the creek, and the circle drive in front of our house has to be re-leveled. This also may be the year we finally get a solar array on the southwest aspect of our roof. And as part of the conservation management of ten of our acres we will plant at least ten trees this year.

Might be able to get the outside of the house painted this summer - might, depends if I can get enough money saved or use the Home Equity loan. I hate to do the latter as I only have a year until it's paid off. Then I'll finally have the foundation repair paid for. ugh.

Also I'd really like to find a way to make an upstairs entry to the cellar. I have to go outside and around the house to get into it. There is actually a very large trap door in my bedroom (yeah, used to be my uncle's work room) with a flight of stairs to the cellar; but I was always nervous about it. Not only is the trap door long and super heavy, the stairs are steeper than I like. I always feel as tho I'm going to topple forward going down them. Plus, currently my large armoire is sitting over the trap door. I'm trying to envision how I could put a spiral staircase there instead. Of course that might be just as treacherous. And there are the pipes and electric lines to think of. Oh well, still thinking.

We just moved into our new build last August. The basement is unfinished so hubby decided "we" need to spruce it up. We painted the stairs and added carpet stair treads. "We" will also be painting the walls and the cement floor. Then come Spring we will finish the outside landscaping. We hired quite a bit of the landscaping done last year, seeded yard and trees and bushes in the front. That cost around $8,000.00, so we will be doing most of the rest ourselves to save some bucks.

We just finished our major master bathroom renovation and now hubs is getting ready to order windows for the house, which he will install. After that, its a toss up as to whether we start the kitchen renovation, which involves raising the ceiling and refinishing the cabinets, no tile or counter work as that has already been done. If not that, then we might do some outside work on the entrance way, faux stone around the new window and door replacement, painting. I dread the kitchen reno, so we will wait and see.

We just replaced our garage door and will be getting the exterior of the house painted. We also need to have our live oaks pruned-we have lots of them so $$$$!

Aside from some much needed electrical work that'll soon be underway, I started out only planning to make a patchwork quilt for the MB with some batiks/coordinating fabrics (and thanks to AuntJen's back patio brickwork thread I finally decided to do it in a running bond brick layout lol). Now that it's all together and ready for quilting it's much more turquoise than I'd been intending, so I may have to repaint the bedroom/bathroom, and then might have to redo the long cabinet in the bathroom (it has mahogany gel stain, which I've never particularly cared for).

I'm not sure what else my husband has planned for the year, he usually comes up with two or three projects, it's been 6 years and I would like to repaint the livingroom but he so loves the too-orangey terra cotta above the chair rail, I'd like to tone it down and make the lower more yellow but down here in the land of sun too much yellow makes you feel even hotter.

This looks to be a year filled with house projects, large and small, for us. Anderson Windows just finished up replacing most of the windows and door walls in our house yesterday. It was an intensive, but not unpleasant, three full day project . Here's a pic I took with all the old kitchen windows out. The weather was in the low 30's with snow on the ground. It started snowing again late-Saturday afternoon . . . right after they'd pulled the family room door wall out. That was a crazy scramble to get the new one in fast! What a huge difference, though!

Before that we had redone our MBR and laundry room walk-in closets. Next comes some staining and painting. Then we/I need to reorganize the guest room and its walk-in closet. Then the garage and its big closet. I need to also research and buy a new dishwasher. And then find someone to build me a pretty replacement gate for my walled-in garden. New stucco on the house and then a new roof this year, too.

We did a full gut down to the studs 3 yrs ago, interior and exterior, only thing that remained was foundation and roof. The exterior footprint remained due to limitations of living on a creek but added decks. Hubby is totally against doing anything but I have an itch to repainted a few rooms and, add a greenhouse and design a hutch area with cabinets to match the kitchen.

Need to work on him a little more, lol!

After looking with horror at what everyone has planned, I'm glad to say that I have nothing. Well, we do have a smaller house on the property which is full of furniture we didn't need when we combined households, but it's been that way for nine years, out of sight and out of mind. Just some minor tweaking of different rooms, area rug and pillows waiting to be delivered, but nothing like what I'm seeing here. thank goodness, although I wish you all great success.

For some reason last summers' TX heat did a number on a few,of my larger/older plantings, so need to replace those. Will also add a few more bushes/flowers to the front/back yards, and possibly a flagstone patio to the front, not so much for sitting out, but as additional visual(curb)appeal~these are things which i'll hire out. The cedar barn-style garage doors and fencing need to be restained, and that's a job I can do myself. If the weather continues to be sunny, may get this one job finished before spring is here. Will also be continuing with the cleaning out of the garage and repainting the floor. When the garage is organized and cleaned up, I feel such a total relief! ;)
