Be sure to check with your local building codes officer first unless you have a tub in another bathroom. Some places require houses to have a bathroom with a tub in order to be up to code.

In our old house, we converted the master bath tub/shower combo into a walk in shower and definitely needed full shower door, although we did glass and not slider. I will tell you, though, that when we redid our bath in the new house we made the walk in shower a foot wider -- much easier for moving around, washing hair (imagine elbows sticking out). Even 6 more inches in width would help. I've attached (bad) photos of the difference in the two -- hard to believe it's only 1' difference in width.

You will love the walk in shower. Have your contractor check the dimensions, just to make sure that you aren't able to have the shower, with no door. If that is not an option, a BASCO glass shower door swings easily and has a sleek, clean look.

It can be done as a wet room. Tiles in photo's are actually pitched from outside the shower approx. 8" from the front of toilet. These photo's are 6 weeks old. I installed this job about 5 years ago. So it has seen daily use since then.

Not ALL houzzers need a door on their toilet area. Silly IMO, I already have a door to the whole area. And, if someone else need to use the room they can wait. Modern day manufactured problem!
