Thoughts on paint: do you like green? It complements red nicely, and can be either sophisticated and dramatic (dark) or serene and earthy (light. Here is Farrow and Ball's "neutrals" palate - I like Castle Grey or Card Room Green for dark options and the much lighter Vert de Terre looks pretty with your granite (on my monitor!)

Knobs can be dark finish - oil rubbed bronze, antiqued copper, rust - Amerock has nice choices. I think simple egg knobs would look (and feel) nice -

Stick with grey tones for the cabinets. It will help neutralize the counter and backsplash color. How about pewter for the knobs?
