replacing recessed light in entrance with....?

Not sure what to do-- want to replace recessed light in entrance with something that would fit in an exposed brick NYC apt-- the ceiling is dropped and is maybe 8 feet high (not a lot of room) but we want enough light to see in mirror before leaving etc.
