I would add a propane or gas fire pit. Extends the times you can sit outside, they give off lots of heat and you can still roast marshmallows. No fuss, no mess , no worries .

Definitely a patio cover. Some lattice to provide shade, and possibly a solid area to add full protection from the sun and rain so you can enjoy it year round.
