What's out your window?

Asked this a few years ago and had some fabulous views from around the country. What's your view from your new kitchen?

    Snow. A lot of it.

Usually we have a nice wooded view with large oak and beech trees.

outside... no snow, not a flake.

I ditto numbersjunkie. Snow, snow and more snow. I will post a pic in 6 months when you can see the pool. I prefer that view :)

    I can't post a photo? Maybe it's the snow :)

Scrappy - you must be near Bmore?

I love your pics of the slowly covered chairs.

I tried to post but it wouldn't let me. I'll try again. 31" and it's still snowing. My dogs have no where to "go".

you see the black railing past the grill? It leads to our pool. Ha!!

Yup- we must be neighbors! Your view looks like parkland! Out for another round of shoveling now...

I am in Carroll County. You are still shoveling?? I shoveled all day and most of it just blew back where it was. I'll go out tomorrow. Stay safe!

And this is what my daughter & her college roommate did this afternoon...my DD figured the winds would be perfect for kite flying!

    .

    .

...until her kite split in half (the blue one). Her roommate's is still flyable!

    .

Her roommate is from Connecticut. Her roommate's dad drove down early Friday, dropped her off, and turned around and headed back home ahead of the storm. We have a full house this weekend waiting for two college move-ins (DS & DD) after the winter break!

Snow. We had to crawl out the living room window to shovel out our front door. It was snowed closed. Cannot leave the house as all roads are currently impassible in Southern York County.(Pennsylvania) We see the Maryland border from our back yard. Most cities and townships have invoked travel bans. The snow sure does look beautiful on the trees and in the fields though.

We haven't shoveled out yet due to the blowing and drifts. Cannot see our pool either. Dreaming of summer.......

Lily - my DH dug out a "run" for your dogs several times today!

There was no point in clearing the driveway since it's still snowing and blowing...it just fills back in and you have to start over!

Oh, and I'm in Western Howard County - practically neighbors! :-)

Right now, 8" of snow and the brightest, most beautiful full moon. I just went out to the barn--all is quiet and magical.

My kind neighbor scraped my driveway this afternoon, which definitely adds to my mellow mood. Those of you measuring snow by the foot, stay safe and warm.

Buehl- yes, practically neighbors! I did clear some space for the dogs too but all covered now. We have a guy that plows our driveway since it's so long but he can't get here until the roads are clear and we haven't had a plow come through yet. I don't think the kids will be back in school til Wednesday.

All this snow! DS1 in the DC area went skiing on the local roads this afternoon. Meanwhile, here on the other coast things have been wet. Fortunately we did a big water management project on our property so now the rain runs to the street vs turning the yard into a swimming pool. Unfortunately, there's no landscaping yet. We'll get there. I love our snippet view of Mt. Burdell between the roofs.

Wow, can't believe so many of you are neighbors. We are in Cockeysville MD. Not much digging out today except to clear the heat pumps. Not looking forward to tomorrow.

...meanwhile in So Cal, it only got up to a chilly 62* today, and dropping down to a freezing (for us) 48* tonight

I do enjoy looking at all your snow...on my monitor ;)

    Jonas!

Ok cookncarpenter... We don't like you much here on the East coast :)

Seriously, beautiful picture. I always felt like I was meant to live someplace warm year round. Winter is beautiful but I do love your view! It's more my speed.

@lily, as a 64 year native, I know nothing else. I do think the seasons look kind of fun though!

My Mom was an Albany gal, she met my Dad, (also a So Cal native) while working in DC in the early '40s ...One trip to California mid-winter was all it took ;)

Sunny and gorgeous here in Vail today.

We only got 3" of snow here in Missouri, but it's been so cold that it's still here glistening off the branches in the woods behind us. It's so pretty when against that sea of white there's a cardinal sitting on the branch.

Snow- which is unusual here in SC. We got about 7"; an extinction level event in the deep south! Our kitchen looks out at woods, and a filtered view of the Blue Ridge mountains about 10 miles away.

The other windows look out at our barn-

I'm completely jealous of your views!

Here's my view out the back door right now:

And here's the view from my sink window (looking slightly off to the right)

    And looking to the left:

View of dead garden, bare trees, light snow cover. Not very pretty, but the sun is out so I'm happy. It has been a mild, but a particularly grey and gloomy winter so far in central OH.

Not too much snow in SE Virginia. But really high tides yesterday- water was covering the dock. Still high today.

We live in downtown Charlotte so our view is of the backs of our neighbors houses about twenty feet away. But just over their rooftops is the Carolina Panthers' stadium a couple of blocks away so today will be a busy day in the neighborhood because of the game. I loved my house in the suburbs where the deer visited us in the morning, but I love not wasting time commuting and walking to work, museums and restaurants more!

Today it looks just like this, however it is cold. i live in south central Texas and we rarely (once every 10-20 years) get snow.

In contrast to last year, more typical

Out my kitchen window. Deck lower left, I own up just about past that second large tree. View faces east, and is up a hill covered with pachysandra and vinca - great erosion control. A couple houses can bee seen way back there. Snow depth 4 inches (a lot blew around, so not much on railings). Very dark in summer.

This is at my current home. I'm not able to get to my build atm.

I knew I should have brought those planters in! I don't think I'm going to school tomorrow either ;^)

So much wind that the deck couldn't keep it! We had about 18" west of Richmond, VA.

Friends of ours in Western Massachusetts got NO SNOW (crazy).

Part of our view - minus the leaves and plus cold temps So glad you guys have the snow and not us!

I've posted pics of the field I can see from the kitchen (borrowed view from the playroom), but mostly to show how tall the corn has been. Corn was in the rotation again this year, so here are the forlorn looking stalks, peeking through the snow. The field has already been wind-scoured, and some of it is drifted in our back yard.

    From the sledding hill:

    Ready for take-off:

Staying warm any way you can:

No snow here and not much of a view-- neighbor's back yards in a 1940's housing tract (although the yards are not tiny, not large either) and my garden in hibernation. Echoing llucy, the sun is shining today bless the lord! I've got to tear myself away from watching the ice skating championships and take the dog for a long walk.

mamagoose, where did you find that Tardis hat? I need one!

My view is wet, wet, wet despite the predictions of a warmer and dryer winter for us. El Nino was supposed to push the Jet Stream farther south than usual. We started out that way but then December came along and it all changed. We're ahead of average for rain and snow fall, which is a good thing. Perhaps we won't have as bad a fire season this year as we had last year.

My view is also barer than usual. I had a number of plans die from too much water because my inconsiderate and/or clueless kitty corner backyard neighbor put in a French drain, routing all his water to my and my next door neighbors' property (this isn't legal but we haven't pursued action). I lost my scarlet oak, a dogwood, an 8' wide 'Carol Mackie' daphne and a 8' tall Enkianthus, all planted nearly 2 decades ago. The loss of the trees completely changed the sun/shade pattern in this area and the loss of the 2 shrubs left huge holes so I started on a total redo a few summers ago only to put it all on hold until the fence is rebuilt. No point putting in new plants only to have them trampled during fence construction. I never thought it would take this long to get to the fence but other projects took priority (took us all summer 2 summers ago to replace our rotting deck). But this year will be the Year of the Fence (even if it kills us, lol).

Anyhoo, here's my view from my corner windows by my sink as of a few moments ago.

This was what the area in the top photo looked like a few years ago.

Sigh. Oh, well, it's just means I have opportunities to try new plants!

Starting to think about the garden already.

lisa_a, I bought it last year, from a vendor on eBay. They also have the Laplander style with the side braids, and scarves to match. If you do a search, you'll turn up dozens.

My window is not new but my view consist of a tiny bit of melting snow, lots of sunshine, some horses and an outgrown swing set. Ready for spring.

Does anyone have a Florida view to share?

    Wonderful views, everyone!

Piles of builders rubble for me and mud, lots and lots of mud. Has been an unusually mild and very wet winter so far. We have pigs and I'll post a pic tomorrow. Got stuck in their pen yesterday trying to loosen one welly after the other. 7 inches of mud. Bloomin pigs love it despite having a nice stable to go in!
