Unity of metal tones and general style (all these are traditional) is enough - great pieces you've selected pendant and big chandelier. If you have the height volume, you can do something more like a pendant in the foyer if that is the semi-flush. That is the only one I question - maybe you chose it because you were trying to match.

Just post all the light fixtures you select to get the best selection.

I agree that it's best to not match everything, so if I were you I would go with either of the two in the same collection--but not both. The first chandelier looks great with either one of those. But I'm not convinced about the pendant. The first fixtures have a romantic look to them, while the pendant has an industrial vibe that may be too heavy with the others. I hope this helps!

Thanks everyone... so happy to get some replies. Here is a plan of the space.. and a few pictures I had of the full space. It is a bit older, though. One picture shows looking from the foyer to the nook and kitchen. the other is looking from the dining room to the foyer. The half foyer wall will have a column/post.

The ceilings are all 10 feet and will have crown. Susan, I understand about them all looking romantic except for the Foyer light. I am not in love with that light. However, it does have a chain so it can hang (and, yes, I only picked it because it was part of the collection that went with the dining room chandelier with the shades). Any other suggestions for the foyer light?
And the pendants if you think they are too industrial?
I already have the electric wired for 4 of the them. The long section of the island/peninsula is 8 feet - it is wired for 2 pendants, the section in front of the sink is 4 ft, and the other section is 4 feet. Each of these areas have 1 light above (per the suggestion of designer on a another discussion I had posted earlier :-)

For the foyer, I could put the 3 light version of the light in the nook? Yes, it is from the same collection, but would it work since they are farther away from each other and it would be dificult to see these at the same time?
I also found these pendant lights for the kitchen island. They are along the same lines as the other, but I thought they looked a bit less industrial? However, these are only 9.5" versus 13" ( I did think that the others looked a bit too big when I saw them in person.) Would the smaller size work - 4 of them in a total of 16 ft. of counter space?

I like the pendants and don't think industrial at all - I think retro, classic, schoolhouse. I love the 3 light combo and then you just need a great romantic pendant for the foyer - I like 1 and 4 (stick with the original 13" because of the scale of this room and scale of your island), and the smaller version of 1 for the nook. Are you saying to use the 3 light chandelier in the nook? If so, do you think the size would be ok? It is only 18" wide versus the 6 light chandelier in the collection that is 26" wide. The room is 12 feet wide with a built in banquette. I am having a Trestle table built for it that will be 8 ft. long and 40" wide.

Just want to make sure I am understanding correctly. The 3 light chand. for the nook, the 13" pendants for island, the 9 light shaded chandelier for the formal dining, and the large pendant you suggested for the foyer.

Love the big chandelier - they have it in a 9 light too - is it the right size for your formal dining room table? Should it be on the trestle table and maybe go to a crystal in an orb or a pair of crystals in drums?

Over that long of a table I like the look of two pendants...especially in a rectangular space. Either that or a linear fixture. If I had to do it over again I would have had our home wired for two. I love the pendants for over the island. We are going to put something similar over our island so I'm a little partial. I think they look just right in the kitchen. IMO, a home should look collected. So, light fixtures matching exactly from the same collection isn't as important.

The 4 pendant lights would look great over the island.the chandelier for the foyer looks great too. Now you just need the medium light fixtures for the nook, to tie them both.

OK - I am getting a bit confused. Sorry.
I am going to do 4 posts with each one showing the different options of lighting for each of the 4 areas. Please let me know which 4 (one for each area) you like best (Just pick the numbers?) Or, if you don't like any of the options, could you offer suggestions for what I could use? All ceiling are 10 ft. with crown. I prefer to use a darker broze (oil rubbed?). My style (I think) is more traditional with a rustic elegance look. I don't know.

What is the kitchen like?

The kitchen cabinets will be cherry with dark walnut stain. Light granite counters.

If you are interested in using the claire 6 arm chandelier, you can do so in the Entrance foyer, Formal dining can have #4. How about "large chandelier" in the breakfast room and "mini chandelier " pendant over the island, from this link http://www.royallighting.com/landing.asp? or the pendant 2 from your choice over the island. This could be a second set of option from the one given by shortped.

I like the big original rustic chandy with leaves and crystla for formal dining but 9 light. Foyer- bowl. Nook- like pillar candles in oblong best tho i found the more traditional one thinking that was your taste. Given scale of island definitely 13".

I think my problem is that I really like the lights that have the candlestick design with the crystals. But, to put Thais type in 3 of the 4 areas might be a bit too much?

You want to save that for the special place of honor in the formal dining room, and then find some things that coordinate. It will be less special if repeated.
