Jo Lynn: Might I gently suggest you consider a lensed fixture, to reduce glare? You can find them in retro styles with individual bulbs that have frosted lenses in front, or you might consider any number of LED tubular fixtures such as ones from Kovacs Lighting that I use in my work, mostly mounted vertically between the mirrors. 18, 24, and 30" long, they give wonderful light, and are dimmable. Please don't only use recessed cans, as they cast scary shadows under the nose and chin! But they're great for drama. Again, on dimmers. Everything on dimmers. Love the look you're going for.

To light you bathroom well you need lighting from various sources. You should have recessed lighting for sure, but you also need lighting around the mirrors. I would add sconces to the left and right of the mirrors rather than above. Moving j boxes is easy and worth it. Please consider this suggestion.

I would go with recessed lighting that is placed 3-4 ft away from the vanity wall. First, you look a lot better when lighting comes from your back, no dark shadows under the eyes, nose and chin. Over the mirror lighting does that to people regardless what kind of light it is. Second, it saves money. I would use the saving to get a high end magnifying mirror for makeup.
