Leave the fireplace brick and paint the room in neutrals that bring out the beauty of the brick. Layered creams and off whites are beautiful. Blinds on the window should be off white too.

You might add crown moulding too.

I love all your plans for your space! The whitewashed fireplace will be gorgeous! If you are keeping your furniture be sure to update your lamps..it can really make a difference in the room. Remove the patch quilt it really does date the space..if a family made quilt buy a beautiful fireside basket and tuck it inside with a couple accent pillows with a updated texture or print...if in the budget crown molding is always a great addition.
