Holding up my thumb and squinting, I think that they are G16 (definitely not smaller than G12). You could probably use either up to the limit of the total wattage allowable for the fixture, since it's the base size that determines what you can screw in there, not the size of the lamp.

cawaps- yes, it's an i like this look how do i get it question, lol. we purchased a similar brass fixture (not with all these arms) and i want to match this bulb size. and since i have to order the bulbs online i was hoping to avoid buying both.

That's a LOT of bulbs. Around 36 or so? That's a LOT of light.

I ordered the spudnik fixture that voila linked above and went with lower wattage bulbs since it puts out so much light. It will still be bright but will be on a dimmer. It was back ordered and will arrive in a few more weeks, though the bulbs arrived a few days after placed my order.
