70's COMPLETE update kitchen living room, made open concept

Loving the reno!!! It's almost done (adding crown molding on cabinets and undercabinet lighting and baseboards still). I posted in design dillema about the wall in the living room with the ladder so advice is welcomed!!!

Looks so much better, amazing transformation. If it's not too late, you should consider getting a "panel ready" refrigerator that can accept white cabinet panels. That will really help avoid the visual "hot-spot" of the bright and shiny refrigerator.

Great update job! But I agree with the need to paint the french doors, PLEASE. It immediately struck me negatively. And the draping curtains on the french doors are contrasting in style to what you've already got going on. I would grab more of the dark gray ones to match the living room drapes. Also the oak rack on the dining room wall ( which may be a family piece) stands out poorly. I would suggest another large piece with a yellow accent to perhaps tie in with the dining room pic's. Or a mirror, art or perhaps a large basket even to bring in something organic. All else is so soothing and flows well.

Hey sfball06, with regards to the corner of the living room with the ladder, my first instinct is to take the awesome gray chair and ottoman and move it to that corner. (Although it's hard to tell from the picture how much room is in that corner.) Develop a guitar playing/reading/sitting area with the lamp and side table. Move the ladder to the wall behind the dining table and see how that looks? You could display kid art from it. I must say, the more I see the amount of work you have done, I am so impressed!

...and just to clarify, I mean the wall where the oak rack is now...for the ladder.

Your kitchen redo is very much like mine now. I don't have any problem with the refrigerator color because it pulls in the island color. The only thing that I am having trouble with is the drapes over the door; however! The lines and design are so tailored, yet the drapes are so dressy looking for the kitchen. Nice job!

I would consider painting the French doors... but more importantly, change out the slouchy drapes for some tasteful shades, roman or other.

    Looks great!

I do agree with the others about painting the french doors and getting different curtains/shades for them. I would paint them white to match the window trim and cabinets.
