How about a comfortable chair for reading or napping by the fireplace? It could overlap half of the window and wall space and not be too close to the FP

I was thinking of a swivel chair and a small shelf next to the fireplace. As you see I have no pictures up yet. I would like to add some family photos somewhere in the living room.

I agree with a chair in that spot. And I'm longing to put art over your sofa. I don't want to alarm you unduly with colour, so how's this? Aside from beautiful, I mean.

I am assuming that you are going to get curtains, so I'd put these up first, then determine if anything additional is needed on that wall.

And with that, I'd replace one of the lampshades with a shade in smokey blue.

It looks like you have blue in your pillows, but I do not see blue anywhere else. I'd purchase a blue that is close to your pillows color.

I have attached more pictures. The pillows are multi-colored (black, taupe, tan and gray) but no blue.

If you never use your kitchen bar, like many of us, you could build in a bookcase (for cookbooks?) under the counter and put the chair and ottoman with the back toward that corner and add a nice reading lamp. That way the chair faces more toward the fireplace and not the half wall to the kitchen. If you have a big sitting area at your kitchen table and can spare the bar area it might be nice. Then, after you hang your curtains, see if you have room for a couple of family portraits on the wall between the window and fireplace. Pretty room with all those windows! Great start!

Bjen, you are correct in that we do not use the bar area for sitting. I like the idea of adding a bookshelf and facing a chair toward the fireplace. The picture of a larger standing lamp is a great suggestion also. The room does need more color; I will be adding a wall painting and maybe pillow.

I would remove the stools and build in a banquet with a game size round table and two accent chairs....add a fabric Roman shade in a beautiful print to complement the room.

Something like this..you have such a cozy spot for it in from of the fireplace...when entertaining the accent chairs can be used in the living area.

The extra pics helped! You obviously cannot put anything in the path of the door. So I always like to make use of fireplaces. Looks like yours is so far from your seating area that you really cant enjoy it up close and personal. I would tuck an appropriate size comfy arm chair with a small nesting table. Someplace you can enjoy the fireplace perhaps with a nice warm cup of tea or book. Cozy it up with a warm textured throw and angle it slightly toward the fireplace. A cowhide rug would look lovely to complete the cozy comfy look :)

Lots of great suggestions. Here is a photo a chair that I moved to the space. I like zzmom40's suggestion and photo of seating where bar area is.

i would move it closer to fireplace if you go that route. the wall in betwen window and fireplace. The banquet seating is awesome if you need it! Great functional use of the space. I would have a contractor custom build it out to get the best look!

I Love your home. What about moving the sofa, coffee table, etc from against the wall. The room seems a little of balance. Can you move it closed to the center of the room without blocking pathways?

I don't think one chair is the solution..I wouldn't want to sit all alone in the corner? Seems like it would be a wast of good space.....you could purchase a upholstered bench that has a high back and place it in the area where the stools are add a round table and 2 accent chairs..great area for kids to do home work or play games..fun for adults when entertaining ....beautiful view of the fireplace. If you end up loving it you could have the overlap of counter removed so the bench could be pushed back.
