You think too busy.???....I liked it because it pulls in the stainless appliances and marble look also . I was going to do entire wall. Too much???

the high contrast mosaic look has fallen out of favor lately when there is pattern on the countertop. something with less contrast between the colors, or a solid color, might look better.

Its hard to see whats metal and whats not.

My feeling is pencil tiles are a bit busy for a backsplash. I prefer something a little more classic, as SewingLadyDi mentioned. A White or Gray Glass Subway tile would be beautiful, as well as a colored subway tile. You could even go with a larger subway tile, in a 6 x 9" size, if you prefer a more modern look, like the kitchen below.

I would do a light colored subway tile and use that for an accent strip. I agree that it would be a bit too busy on the entire wall.

Personally, yes, too busy. I think you will tire of this quickly. I'd keep it simple with no accent tiles of any kind. Check these out.

Skip the busy tile for a backsplash and get a tray to prop up on the counter.

Get the accents from things that are easily replaced.

I think that works with your countertop, which I love btw. However, whenever I see pencil tile backsplashes, I find them to be too busy. Kitchens tend to have enough on the counters (i.e. potential visual clutter) even when you've put everything away and aren't cooking, so I find something more soothing on a backsplash works best. Love a glass subway tile, even done in the herringbone pattern, as has been suggested here. If you really love the pencil tile though, I agree that using it as an accent with plain subway tile is a safer way to go.

I agree it will get very busy. Prefer a glass tile 3x12 stain grey colour or white.
Subway is always a classic, you can find beautiful colours with a crackled look to them. Light grey or white.
In a few years you will get tired of the strips.
They are starting to go out.
