Porter Hi Hide Eggshell

I know this is not a kitchen question, but you guys are awesome!! Anyone have any thoughts on this paint? Our painter swears by it & we are getting ready to paint most of our house. I need it to be washable & also look great. I don't like high sheen. Will I be happy with this paint?

I am familiar with PPG paints-they are good.....however, look on the graph for this paint and for kitchens they are giving you semigloss and gloss reccomendations. You should take that seriously...kitchens are heavy wear. If you don't want semi gloss, I would not do it. We used Pratt and Lambert ACCOLADE paint.....around 1997.....it gets washed and wiped here and there, as any kitchen gets splatters.....the paint is in excellent shape still,. It was easy to roll and brush, and cut in. I wish in a way it needed redoing because I'm tired of the color. I have an eggshell finish-you can get any finish in this paint-it is higher priced but worth it. One of the best..but there are a lot of good paints out there.

Hi Mark! We're glad to hear you're interested in using PPG Porter for your kitchen! As far as the sheen goes we would NOT recommend Eggshell for the kitchen. Kitchens are areas of high traffic and require a durable paint for when walls need to be scrubbed. Semi-Gloss or Gloss are the best sheens to be used in a kitchen (regardless of any brand). Where the kitchen is painted there wouldn't be any splatter from cooking. It's mostly above the cabinets & around the pantry. I'm more concerned about its wash ability in high traffic areas where my kids play & tough the walls. I don't like sheen though. I bought a quart last night to try.
