Help me decide how to decorate our main entrance!!!

The entrance is so important and I can't decide what to do here. I will be doing a photo gallery wall going up the stairs. Not sure whether to do a porters chair, small table and lamp or go with a console table and decorate with mixed items. What do you think????

A bench would look great on the stairs wall. I can't see the other side, but is the wall big enough to handle a hall tree?

either of those ideas would be fine -- look at some photos and see which combination feels more like your own house to you!

I have been looking and pinning both- a console table with art, plants, books and etc. and poufs or seating underneath as well as a table and small side table combo for over a year! I don't want to start buying stuff and change my mind

The mirror feels like it's hung too low. Is the center at or above 5'5? (or thereabouts).

I really like your idea of a console table with plants and a lamp -- such a pretty room!

It is a beautiful foyer. Which idea would give the most color. I think that you need to incorporate another color to break up the gray. I'd also add another rug in a beautiful color.

I think the console table with mixed items is also the best way to go. It looks like you have blue and yellow in the artwork near the door.

I agree with shirlpp.....you have a beautiful entry! It really needs color.....the gray looks very gloomy on its own. Art with brighter colors would be good!

I'd like to see a beautiful antique dresser with drawers.

The mirror is as high as it can go due to moldings under the stairs. The middle measures at 5ft...

my understairs mirror needs to be low also. don't worry about it. however it might make a bench work better than a console table.

oh wait, i just looked at your photos again. i had only looked at the first photo where you cannot see the mirror is not centered.

you need something small enough that you can fit left/right centered on your space. either moving the large mirror down some, over a bench, or something not as tall.

other option, a very small table that can fit centered under the mirror with a high back chair to the right of it.

It looks like you prefer more of a monochromatic theme so a great way to liven up a space without color is texture and pattern. So this rug is wool and silk and has a really unique pattern and I think it would look exquisite in your entry. It pairs well with your twist on a traditional crystal chandelier.

Thank you avery2pt0! It is reflecting yet another project.... Its our front room... Still debating on what to do with the wall, and what to place on the buffet sideboard. I am leaving the space mostly open since toddlers need room to roam....

Beautiful home!! Would you consider putting your entry mirror over your pretty sideboard? The mirror looks like it has black in it and would look great with your lamp. Then you can get a smaller mirror for your entry and lean it on a console and then the mirror would be centered :)

I think the reason people are commenting on the mirror is that it seems too low for anyone (other than a child) to see themselves when looking in it. Generally when a mirror is placed in a foyer, it's so you can take a quick glance at yourself when leaving or entering. I think it's too low too. I think a small console table and a small piece of art and a lamp would look good. Do you have electrical there so you can turn the lamp on?

Yes, I see the outlet there.

Im not sure why everyone thinks the mirror is low... The top is hanging at 6'2, it is 31 inches tall.... I am 5'8" and I look straight in the middle before going to the door....

All right then. Perhaps it just looks that way in the picture. There really isn't anything right now to use as a reference point. It does look big for the space, however.

Your home is beautiful. I like the color scheme too.

I love seeing personal collections on walls going up stairs - antique maps, old photos, travel objects, etc. If you have 3D objects you can display them in box frames to display.

For larger walls, I'd do large artwork. Check out my work and let me know if anything catches your attention: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ShoaGallery
