To Faux or no? Brick panels, wallpaper, etc...

Hi Folks, I have a small little offshoot room that we use as a tv area at my small place in New Orleans. I would really like to add brick to warm it up, but must keep cost and weight down. Has anyone used the faux brick paneling or ??

I saw this picture of a wall and really want to shoot for this look...

Update: after looking over options, the faux panels were the cheapest. I put them up and faux painted them. I am pretty pleased with the results!!

(the rug is not staying..I'll find a nicer one eventually.)

They use to put up z-brick and it's awful. They have 1/4 bricks that can be added to a wall along with mortar that are much more realistic looking. Much in the same way you apply
Eldorado stone.

Look at the "Brick It" product. Do not use z-brick panels.

Brick wallpaper is also available. I think a an easier solution would be to paint the walls in a richer color. Another rug near the chairs would be nice too.

Faux almost everything looks faux I agree paint a rich color the 2 spaces seem sort of off from each other can’t tell from pic but maybe a better shot of both areas.IMO there is a lot of clutter in the T.V. space.

My son has a faux brick area in one of his rooms and yours looks a lot better. The product must have improved. He really likes it though. Where did you get this and what is the brand called? Maybe I can redo his to look nicer.

Hi Terri, it is the cheap $26 paneling from Home Depot, Lowes has it too. I used acrylic craft paint to make it look more real, it was super easy!

I just read reviews on the product at Home Depot. LOL... Lots of good reviews. I am not sure how to deal with seams though. I think I will use this in my son's music room if he likes it. We are about to convert a former screened in porch and have some reclaimed wood to use for the ceiling and possibly a wall. This would look great with that! (As if it even matters, as I am sure it will all end up being covered with band posters.) I posted asking for suggestions for the music room but have not received any comments so far. What did you do about seams and did you use glue or screws to install?

Hi Terri, I glued it and used a nail gun. Fot the seams I bought a tub of ready mixed grout for the grout lines (I originally planned to do all the grout lines with the premixed grout, but I ran out of time)

After I finished the faux paint, the seams in the panels wasn't too apparent. You could get paintable caulk and put that on before you faux paint...

Aaah! Good idea with the grout! I read a review where someone used screws and then went over them with a paint pen to make the screws less noticeable. I don't want to bother with faux painting though. As I said, he will probably just cover it with posters. I'm really glad you posted this idea.
