Another Succulent Question

So, I had taken my succulent to a garden place that sells succulents, and her advice to me (she seemed like she knew what she was talking about and she was passionate) was to cut the succulent in half and repot. But after I cut it, a few days later, it looks like the pictures below. Is this normal looking, or am I losing the plant? I know it should callous over, but it looks more like it's deteriorating than callousing.

And this is what the rest of the plant looks like, so far. Not as bad as the base. Any suggestions..? Am I just going to lose this succulent, or is there hope to save it? I have a few leaves set out that are growing babies, so that's good, at least.
