New kitchen!

Trying to update the kitchen in this 1980's house my husband and I just bought. It's our first home, so looking for any input!! Would love to keep the white cabinets.

White cabinets seem fine -- even the floor could be ok if you paint the grout lighter. New counters, an undermount sink, a different backsplash... are you looking for an aesthetic overhaul or a functional one? Some would replace all the appliances, but if they match each other and do the job...

This is my first remodel, so new to it all! We are thinking about doing all new appliances (stainless steel), new granite, under mount sink, new backsplash, and potentially doing wood floors...

well, those are all popular choices! Be sure you're happy with the layout before you drop all that money, but it does look reasonable from here. And be prepared to drop 10-15k! :)

I know!!! It's no cheap task! But I love to cook, and everyone always crowds in the kitchen, so to me it's worth putting money there.

Any granite or backsplash recommendations?

At some point, tackle the lighting - the one thing that looks older in your home is the box light:)

Hello

I would first update the hardware, paint the grout in the tile, get a large sisal or indoor / outdoor rug and a new light. Those few cosmetic changes will make a big difference.

what is opposite the sink? could you extend the counter to accommodate stools?

New lighting would b e the first thing I would change as it will have a real effect on all your other choices. Do not be in a rush to jump on the granite train IMO granite has been done to death check out Cambria quartz for some awesome choices as for handles and knobs they could be replaced for sure. I think the flooring really dates the kitchen but I see it goes in to the eating are too so maybe not doable.
