I agree with Ironwood and think most people these days prefer the versatility of the large single sinks. I have a large undermount with a 70/30 split, and the divider comes less than halfway up the depth of the sink. So it feels to me like the best of both options as I use the small area for filling up and washing veggies and the sink as a whole for big pots and pans. But single bowls are more popular.

I rarely use the dishwasher so one side of my double sink is used for drying dishes. It really depends on how you function in the kitchen.

I had asked for a "sink and a half" (70/30), but sadly the granite guy didn't get the memo and i wound up with a standard double. :(

It's difficult to wash up large pans, roasters or pots. Single sink or 70/30 is definitely the way to go, imho.

IMHO, I have had four different sizes/types of sinks. My favourite was a stainless steel large one section sink. I could lay a cookie sheet or roaster in it and it was fantastic.

I have the same dilemma! But how do you wash large items (like a pot or roaster) and leave them to dry if there is not a seperate section for them? Am I overthinking this? Maybe the 70/30 split is the way to go for me!

I usually have someone with me drying. Most things I put in the dishwasher. But if it is a roaster, I will wash it or let it soak and then I just put a dishcloth on the counter and lay it on top if I have something else I want to wash. Typically there are only a few big items. I love it. But really it is personal taste. I get frustrated when I have to tilt my cookie sheet or roaster up and only wash one half at a time...lol...first world problems eh? lol.

I had a great sink once, a large one section sink. But it had a drain board as part of it - it was a stainless sink, all one piece if that makes sense, kind of like this picture. I loved it!

I decided to go w/ a single bowl under mount. Currently have a 50/50 which works fine but really like the 1 bowl. I went w/ Silgranit instead of SS.
