I am not a fan of gray but your color looks great to me! Once you get bedding, curtains, art, etc. it will all pull together. You have good taste!

I love my Yarmouth Blue living room and dining room. It changes color throughout the day, has a depth to it, dark furniture looks great up against it. Not a bright or pale blue because it has grey in it.

Why not upload your picture to the SW or BM website and paint your room. It might help.

Try BM Revere Pewter or BM Stonington grey.

Thanks for all of the advice! Stonington Grey is the brownish sample on the right in the closeup. It's way too yellow and light.

And I did use the BM website to preview colors, but it isn't great. Many colors look exactly alike and you can't see the undertones which is important in such a big space.

I did have a sample of Kendall Charcoal from painting the back of my bookcases and really love the drama of it! I'm going to get a sample of Amherst Gray (one shade lighter) to see which I like best.

Not BM, but Popular Gray is very similar to Edgecomb with no yellow tones. Consider Versatile Gray for something darker.

I'm going out on a limb here but I think you should get away from gray walls. The gray bed is beautiful--let it stand on its own and paint the walls a rich deep yellow....mustard or marigold with gray trim...very elegant and cozy...

Best to narrow down a few and test them in your room, but a grey with a slight mauve hue might be nice.

You have a point, Anniebird. The Mink Violet is beautiful! I stayed away from purples because they seemed to childish. Mauves seemed so 80s. But that color is very rich. I'll get a sample of that today, I'll also try a Marigold as Amelia suggests.

Stay in the purple family or a dark limey girl is your best bet to compliment your bed.

Another option is a rich wine color. Pottery Barn catalogs feature Sherwin Williams colors and the winter catalog had a beautiful wine-colored paint in it. I think it may have been called "Cabernet." I don't have the catalog any more to check. It was gorgeous. Keep in mind that the wall color doesn't have to be an exact match to the colors in your artwork - they can still complement each other. Good luck!

Finish the room with art work and nightstands and curtains in colors you are in love with and THEN paint the room. When you have a mix of items you will have a 'feel' for what the room wants to evolve to and it will be much easier to paint.

For example, what if you go looking for bedding and fall in love with a pattern or solid that looks awful with the painted room.....it is easier to custom match paint to existing fabric than to find custom fabrics to match one paint color!

This way you can make progress with the room and finish it and then paint it the color that works best with what you have. If only you buy bedding or only a piece of art you will have made a decision on what you want in this room.....every time you make a design decision you will have fewer to make as you progress in the room.

Consider cutting whatever color up 75%. I had to do that. Started at 25 and kept going. And I had picked what I thought was a light blue grey to start with. But with four walls of any color it gets darker. Looks like your going to have a pretty room.
