Yes, Jasminum polyanthum, and you get scent only when the blossoms are open. That is for a period of a couple of weeks each spring. The pale pink buds open to pure white blossoms.

Keep it in very bright shade (or sun only in the morning), and don't let it dry out. Feed it monthly in the growing season, avoid exposure to electric lights at night (especially in the autumn when it is setting invisibly tiny buds), and it will bloom again every year.

If it gets out of bounds, you can pinch it back a few times after bloom through to mid-summer or late-summer, but I wouldn't pinch any later than that, as blooms appear on tips of newest growth.

After a few years, some of the stems will die out. When they are brown and brittle, they are easy to snap and pull out with your bare fingers. I've seen others deal with die-out and overgrowth by cutting theirs back hard (to within a foot or so of the ground) and letting it come grow back from there. It worked for them, but it didn't work for me, and I ended up hunting up a new plant.

When it blooms, you will love its crisp clean scent, which seems extra strong on a still spring evening. I keep mine potted on the front porch, where the scent is trapped and delights me as I come and go. I hope you get as much enjoyment out of yours.

OMG!! I am excited!!! Went out this morning and my Jasmine is starting to bloom! Can't believe that just these two blossoms provide such a strong, heavenly scent! I think it is in a perfect location :)
