I agree. You are down to 3 choices. The 1800 line is the best window of the group by far. If that price is workable for you that would be my choice. Latest and Greatest in window technology. Sunrise is fine but a bit overrated in my opinion. Vytex is one of the handful of windows that has the measureables, but gets very mixed feedback on quality from professionals which keeps it out of the upper echelon in my opinion. There are less risky options to save a few buckaroonis.

If your budget is a bit lighter, I'd probably take the 500 over the Fortis even with downgraded glass.

I am have not seen or deal with Okna or Vytex, but in doing a search on the Vytex I haven't seen much anything negative at all. I'd pocket the savings and and reap the the rewards of the triple pane.

Don't forget about the company doing the install . You should have 100% confidence in them to do the job to highest standards and to stand behind the product for years to come. You're installer should well versed in new and old construction on a remodel project. It would be a very small price to pay to have the best install done.

On product, I'd generally agree with the recommendations above. If you can afford the 1800 that is a phenomenal window. There are not many choices on the market that can hit a .18 u factor with only argon gas. I'd look at the 500 as well if you are on a tighter budget. Perhaps there is some wiggle room on that one. After that, the Sunrise is pretty highly regarded.

On Vytex, I have no personal experiences as I do with the other choices, however I have also heard a mixed bag regarding QC and warranty stuff.

I am very confident in all the people I have received quotes from so that may not help with my decision. Thanks for all the other input!

Sunrise and Okna have a better established track record in my opinion to answer your question. They both have several models so hopefully one can meet your budget

The R-5 Fortis at that price point is hands down the clear choice. Everyone here is just haters because they are OKNA dealers so of course they will downplay Vytex Windows lol

Vytex has a very good ufactor of .26 and it goes as low as .22 ; thats with double pane glass. Their triple pane even goes much lower. They been around for almost 30 years and have a very good track record.

in my view, an air infiltration rating of .01 - .05 is a very good window product, meaning its very air tight. Thats the range we usually view as top tier.

both the vytex potomac and fortis are solid windows. Did you happen to see the grand view series?
