Rose Hips - Still Green

Hi all,

I live near Palm Springs and my rose hips are still green :(

Are they use-able? Or should I just prune them off.

I'm not entirely sure how to answer as I'm not that familiar with them :) The roses are not wild, they were store bought, hope that info helps, thanks!

Usually rosehip tea, jelly etc are made from the hips of wild rose species, Rosa canina, R rugosa etc. If you have ordinary garden rose bushes (HTs, floribundas etc.) the hips won't hurt you but I am not sure they will be very tasty or produce much juice. And certainly they need to be red before use. Normally people dead head their ornamental roses before the hips appear in order to avoid the bushes putting energy into seed production. Just out of curiosity what were you thinking of making with them?
