Please help me with kitchen pull decision

Hello GWers, I have been a lurker through my kitchen remodel. Everything is decided except for the pulls. I have white shaker cabinets with stainless appliances ( all with a round pull handles, as those on Kitchenaid). House is older and I am going for an updated but classic look. Floor is medium grey ceramic, somewhat moderni, counters are Quartz that resemble marble, and backsplash is crackle tile in light grayish tone (DH doesn't like a lot of bling, so backsplash is glossy carckle, but subtle).

I can't decide between the classic but maybe overused stainless Euro bar pull and a more modern stainless metered closed-end pull such as the one below. Do you think these mite red ones will go with the overall look? I am worried that the traditional bar pulls, while classic, will catch on clothes

and may be overdone, although I know they will go with the look well. Thanks in advance!!

There are so many pull options. You only have a picture of one. From your description they don't sound that different. We have Kitchenaid appliances. Our pulls have a curve but still with an updated and classic design.

I would definitely worry about the other ones catching on clothes. I have avoided any pulls that would do that. Hard to weigh in if we don't see the kitchen, etc. The one pictured above looks like the corners are sharp. I would worry about those hurting bare legs...

Thanks for your comments! GW is so helpful! Right now, I don't have a picture of the kitchen because they haven't started the demolition on the old one. I could post pix of it in all it's (hideous) if that would be helpful.

The kitchen is a galley style in a 1925 house. Below I have posted the materials that I am using including the backsplash, the floor, and the countertop material. The shaker cabinets are the "double stack" style (29" bottom and 11" top to the ceiling with crown moulding).

Maries1120, I had narrowed down my pull selection to only those with the straight, tubular style, and that's why I only came up with two choices. A third option was the Pennington pull (see below) which mirrors the appliance handle style, but I was concerned that with the galley kitchen that the thickness of the base screw section would be make those pulls be the main thing your eyes would go to with the double stack.

Kelleg69, I hadn't even thought about the fact that the pool I posted initially was a sharp edge! Good point!

Mal, thanks for the photos! Like you, I want pulls that are subtle and not attention seeking, but I hadn't considered that it would be OK to mix a curved pool with the KitchenAid Street handles. (I also have a DCS large, straight handled oven.) I really like the Colibri pull that you posted a picture of! I hadn't seen that one! Do you think that the base of the pull is very noticeable? Have you ever seen it in a photo? Initially I had simply decided on the European bar pulls in stainless or a brushed nickel type finish (because they wear a matching Matchey to my appliances), but then started to worry that they might be very overused these days. Also heard that they can hook your clothes all the time. I'm trying to open up my mind to a pull that isn't a straight style, such as the Kentwood that you posted.

I still have time, but I'm starting to have all consuming dreams about the kitchen pulls!! Next post shows some photos of the materials I am using. Thanks all for your input!

    And Pennington knob:

That Pennington handle sure looks like an Ikea Orrnas handle....at cough, cough...half the price. :) Just think, you can buy twice as many !

I'll post pictures of the Colibri pull when it comes in, in a few days. I think being able to see them in person is the best. And that pull is my favorite because it seems impervious to dried peanut butter and jelly in the nooks and crannies -- easy to clean. (I never get an explanation as to how these things happen...just "it wasn't me!" )

By the way...please share details of the grey subway tile. (I have yet to think abou the backsplash and I love the mottled movement of the color variations. Almost like clouds !).

    Cheers!

Hi Mal, actually the tiles that I posted above are not the ones that I'm using. I was posting from my phone and I didn't allies those were not the ones because the image was small. Those tiles are from Encore. Went to a tile store to look at them, because they are hand painted and have a lot of variation as you noticed. The ones I actually went with our from ADEX USA and they are called ocean surf gray. See next post. I haven't figured out yet how do I insert photos and links into my current message.

theses tiles are all the same tone/color. Using them with a lighter gray white grout to pick up the white cabinets in the white in the marble like countertop

Here is a good link to photos of the Encore Silver crackle, which are surprisingly cream and pink toned in person:Encore silver crackle
