Need area rug advice for our coastal family room

We have recently remodeled our house and our FR/kitchen/DR is all open. Looking for advice for a rug that fits with our coastal South Florida look . . . the colors are blue, gray, green and white. With the gray tile floors, should I be looking for a lighter rug with colored accents? I"m still working with the decor, and would appreciate any input.

I would go with a simple sisal rug as it would not compete with your floor and accent wall. Can you turn the end table to face the coffee table and move it closer to the arm of couch? I would also move the sofa closer to coffee table. It will give you more room at your entryway and tie your seating arrangement together. Your space looks very inviting.

What a great space... have you looked at Company C's rugs? They are a great company, I'd consider their "Monterey" gray/blue/tan which is more subtle, "To-Bay-Go" ocean feel or "Fiji" which is more tropical to continue your coastal vibe. With all of that gray you could use some color! Have fun!

Thank you both for your comments and suggestions. I absolutely love the Company C rugs but unfortunately are way out of my budget (they are +$3,000) but I love the colors and will consider this in my search. I will look at the sisal but was hoping for something softer. I have switched out the end table to a much smaller one that works better there, and have moved that sofa several times to be closer to the love seat/coffee table but it blocks the window so we can't open the shutters (to open the window) which is a problem so I keep moving it back.

Lovely room. Poor teddy bear. Can you look for an end table that maybe can be turned to face into the room and use that pretty table elsewhere. Also, you didn't ask but I think maybe lower your artwork a bit. For the shore, I wonder if you ought to get some carpet at Lowe's or someplace like that and have it bound? Or what about a braided rug?

LLBEAN has pretty braided rugs in soft colors. You might also consider an iindoor - outdoor rug for durability.

Thank you for the comments. The teddy bear was NOT injured in the filming! Our golden loves her babies and does not tear them up!

We have spent so much on our renovation, I was hoping to find a rug under $500.

I found this rug which I am seriously considering buying. My designer friend suggested it added too much linear in addition to the wood wall, tile floor, etc. but I love the colors and the coastal feel. I saw this in Macy's yesterday but found a killer deal online. any suggestions welcome!

Beautiful room! The only suggestion I have is that the sofa needs to come in further away from that door.

The walls and floors are beautiful but also busy so I would suggest something without a lot of pattern for your rug. Are you wanting something soft or you don't mind natural fibers? Ballard designs has natural fiber rugs that for the largest (which you will need) will be under $500. I love natural fiber rugs because they are so easy to keep clean & don't show stains, etc.

If you want a soft rug. I purchased the largest of this shag rug from Overstock many years ago & it doesn't peel AT ALL, it stays soft & fluffy, and it is the nicest color. It
would be awesome with your floors. The largest is what you'd need & it is $350 I think. The colors are WAY different than they look on the computer. The color that would be best for your room is called mushroom (it is actually gray/brown). The charcoal one is actually an ugly blue. & the taupe one is a gray/pink.
