Bifold door brackets and hardwood

I'm installing hardwood flooring in the hallway and in the adjacent closet. The closet has bifold doors that sit on the type of brackets shown below. Currently, the brackets are actually screwed into the subfloor. They do have holes for screws on the side as well.

Once the flooring is installed, should I remount the door brackets by running a screw through the same hole, through the hardwood and into the subfloor, or try to mount them only using the holes in the sides, directly into the wall?

Example. Note the screw into the subfloor, there was carpet here previously. I'm also aware that I need to use the spline to continue the flooring into a closet, since I have to "change directions."

Hi hairmetal4ever

When you remove your brackets and install the floors... your bracket will set on top if the 3/4" flooring. Therefore you cannot not use the same holes. You will have to adjust the doors and you might have to cut the doors off to accommodate the new height of the floors. Most Bifold doors can be adjusted with out cutting.

What nicefloorguy said. Get yourself some nice new brackets while you're at it, most hardware stores have them.

The doors are "short" enough, and I have new brackets, and know how to adjust them. That's not my question.

My question is, do I screw the brackets right into the hardwood, or mount them to the sides into the drywall/stud instead?

A few short screws will work in the hardwood. You probably won't hit any lumber behind the drywall. You have no real need to drill them into the sub floor. Best to predrill as it will receive the screws easier.

I would have run the jamb saw under that area, cleaning it up; perfection here. You're okay though. Spline video for others to benefit.
